My seal..

I ran across this image generating site while surfing throgh some other blogs. Here is my new seal:

Random thoughts

I am fairly new to blogger, but not to blogging...I have been on LJ for a year and a half. I have not posted regularly by any standards, but I have gotten better over the last year, and I do keep up with my friends journals and make the occasional comment...It has been great being able to do that..

I find myself comparing the two blog sites and how easy/user-friendly they are. There are good and bad points about both blogs, but I am leaning toward liking LJ better. Maybe it is because I am more familiar with it having used it longer, but I don't think so. I am still learning on both sites. I do think I like the editer on Blogger better, it has a usable spell-check that LJ does not have. Lj does have spell-check, it just isn't aseasy to correct the mispellings.

I am not used to having to use the HTML myself to put things into my account, but then I don't put up many links in my LJ account, it is more my ramblings on life and what is going on in the world (my world to be exact).

When I get right down to it, most of my friends are on LJ, so that is probably what makes it more appealing to me. I have put more effort into setting up the account and trying to stay active on it so I have a more vested interest in that account...I may keep this one up after this project is over, if only to keep up with all the neat people participating that continue afterwards. Only time will tell.

Neat stuff

It has been an interesting journey so far...What is funny, is that I have been working on a document on excel off and on for several months now and I just uploaded it to the Google spreadsheet and gave a few of my friends access to is the neatest thing for them to be able to get online and see what is there and make comments about it...I will be updating it as needed...I had wondered how I was going to use the document while I was creating it and then I discovered the availability of the spreadsheet while fooling around with the calendar...which is also really cool as I have sent all of my close friends access to my calendar so that we can arrange to do things together...really neat stuff available online for free...

New learning...

I have kind of jumped around a little in the list of 23 things . I read/listened to the Seven and 1/2 Habits of Highly Successful Lifelong Learners more than once. After veiwing it again, I realize that I am lacking confidence in myself. I learn easily enough, and I can impart that learning to others, but am not always confident in my abilities to do these things. It has gotten easier this year as I have had to force myself to step out of my comfot zone and do things that I may not have done in the past. I will have to keep positive thoughts in mind for my future learning.

I had to try this...went to and got my own image text generated...pretty cool...trying to figure out what to do with it now..

I spent hours on Youtube last night...watching and listening to many different videos. It is fascinating how many people are making videos and loading them onto this sight. How many people actually have the equipment to do this sort of thing. I am reasonably sure that we could at my house. The didgital cameras we own do have video capabilities. We do not have a webcam or anything yet. I feel so backwards now. What will my kids think?

Flickr update

I have finally gotten a few photos up on Flickr...I think my account is poohbear_2_3 but I would not swear to it. I have way too many accounts online right now. It gets hard to keep track of everything. I should make myself a little file card or series of cards to keep track of such things. and keep it handy.

What is a Mashup and how does it work...?

Ok, I have looked at Mashups today. They are fascinating to me. I understand the concept. I just wonder at the details of the process. I mean, how hard it must be to join some of these things together. Some things make as much sense as peanut butter and chocolate, but others...I have to wonder at where the idea even came from. I must further investigate and play my little heart out on this. Maybe I will come up with a mashup of my own. I wonder...

Flickr, Flickr, everywhere

I have just spent the last few hours (off and on) seearching through Flickr. Adding contacts. looking at some of the coolest pictures knowing that I will probably never take any like that. I am photo challenged. I have managed to take a few decent photos in my life, but never anything worth writing about. It is almost a waste of time for me to be behind a camera. And a waste of money for me to buy an expensive one. I can just as easily cut off heads with a cheap camera!

Anyhoo, this is so much fun so far. I will have to see what pictures I have in my gallery and upload them to my Flickr account.

Silly me

I tried to log onto my Blog account a few minutes ago, but silly me, I forgot my username. Of course, I didn't write it down anywhere. Luckily, they will send you a link to your account if you forget what it is by email. Then it was just remembering which email address I used when I set up the Blog. All is well again. I am off to explore more of Flikr and other snapshot sites.

I just opened a flickr account, or rather logged in via my Yahoo acocunt. It is kind of cool the number of pictures and groups you can link to through there. I have not gotten link crazy as of yet, planning on taking it slow and steady there. I did find Michael Stephens account and see the picture of the empty Wachovia playhouse at Imaginon. This is kind of like and adventure. I posted the only picture that I had on my the flash drive at hand. Will work on posting more over the weekend.

23 Things

This will be the first of maybe many posts about library stuff or goings on around work. I am very excited about what is happening lately in our system. More later.
