Another workshop

Realized that I really only post when something actually exciting happens at work...I get to go to another cool seminar next week with Stephen Abram and Lori Bell....I am rather excited...it will be fun, I hope....I always get something from these seminars...and usually come out loving my job much more afterwards...especially seeing where librarys are heading...

Another day in Paradise...

I am always so excited when I go to a seminar about the future...Especially when they are hopeful about things that sometimes seem hopeless...This week was no exception....I am more hopeful about the future of libraries than I have been for a while...I need the ocasional burst of enthusiasm from outside sources to lift me up from the everyday doldrum...

I am still trying to figure out where I fit into the spectrum of the new library with some of my ideas about what a library should be...

A library is about books and always has been for me...That being said, I have used it for the Internet when my computer would not let me check my email for some otherwise unknown reasons...and the kids have gone to some of the storytimes, although not many as they are not fond of the crowds, and have plenty of things at home to read/do...

I love Technology and all the benefits that come with it...I have been working on and with computers since 1979...seems not likely, but have enjoyed my years both programming and having fun online...I liked putting up my own web site...

I am excited about where the future might lead...and where some of us will be going with it...I am hoping to see my place in the future soon...but as of yet, it is still fuzzy....

Maybe it is me, but I am happier when I have shown someone how to do something for themselves than if I did it for them...although, there are always those that it is just easier in the long run to do it yourself...

Booklust

I just typed in a search for "wiki made easy" hoping to find the easiest wiki around. It led me to Wetpaint which has a booklust wiki...very cool...will have to take a better look at it tomorrow...no time tonight...and think about what I want to make a wiki about...hmmm....

24th Thing

Ok, I know I should have been on the ball this week and posted something earlier, but it has been a week for me...

I chose for my 24th thing to master the art or science of Wiki...I had trouble and still cannot figure out how to make, edit or even successfully navigate through a Wiki, so I am going to make the effort to learn all I can about how to do these things.

I tried setting up my own Wiki on PBWiki, but it is pretty much a failed effort. I will start by reading up on the subject and see where I get from there....

I just wanted to publicly say that I am particularly proud of all of the people who gave the effort and finished by today...There are a few I am extra proud of, but I applaud


everyone who has made the effort and those that have not had the time but are going to continue plugging on through the 23 things over the coming weeks

The week after

I am still going through some of the websites that we explored over the last several weeks....I feel like I have learned so much, but there is still such a lot of stuff to learn....I have found some of the neatest feeds for my newsreader...I am listening to all sorts of Ren podcasts at this time...well at home anyway...

So much to see and do, so little time in the day...
